Guide: Bandos SOLO (Melee)
Hello friends! This guide will hopefully give you some tips and techniques to use in order to solo the Bandos boss effectively. Please keep in mind this is a guide that I made for people with average melee gear and it is a SOLO guide. I realise ranged may be viable too, but melee allows for better tanking and in my opinion it is therefore more viable than ranged (FOR SOLO!)
EDIT: Here's the loot I have so far from around 15-20 trips using this technique (that's about 50+ bandos kills):
I sold godsword shard 2 for the zerker ring and amulet of ranging. I don't know what the drop rates are or if I got lucky or not but if someone knows please tell me, I want to know
Requirements:
Thank you for reading my guide and I hope this helps! Feel free to post feedback

Requirements:
- Spoiler:
- 99 attack
- 99 strength
- 99 defence
- 95 prayer
- Abyssal whip
- Armour better than dragon
- Food better than sharks
- 99 attack
- Spoiler:
- Equipment:
- Abyssal whip is a must. Best one-handed weapon in game atm and is really effective at Bandos. Dragon scim will fail you.
- Helm of neitiznot for the strength bonus ofcourse, but verac's/torag's helm are also really viable options because of their defensive stats.
- Dragon boots + barrows gloves for defensive stats and strength bonus.
- Obby shield for the same reasons but ofcourse dfs/spirit shields would be so much better.
- Ring of recoil which does nothing, if you have zerker or warrior's ring use that.
- Fire cape - best cape in game for melee.
- Amulet of fury for the all-rounder stats, str ammy is your second option here.
- Torag's body + legs are absolute tanks at bandos. They are so good I'd rather be using them instead of bandos but I died and lost my torag's legs like a noob cake Dragon armour is not viable from what I've seen. Barrows armour is what you want.
- Inventory:
- Super set including super defence potion. They don't need to be (4) doses, most of the time you'll only need to use (3) doses per trip; once before building kc, once before entering boss room, and finally at some point during the boss fight.
- 1 super restore potion with (4) doses.
- Food such as manta rays or rocktails is a must. With sharks you will struggle. I recommend rocktails ofcourse, you will need 96 or 97 fishing (can't remember which) for them and the same for cooking. Or you can buy some from me, my price: 100 cooked rocktails for 5m.
- Spec weapon - ddp works well, but ofcourse claws/ags are also good.
- Equipment:
- Spoiler:
- Ok a couple of notes before we teleport to godwars dungeon:
- Make sure you have curses prayer book for turmoil.
- Switch to normal magics. The ancient magics teleport animation is ridiculously long and takes longer for you to teleport, when facing the Bandos boss you'll experience many clutch-like moments if you're a bit of a risk taker like me :p And in those situations you'll need all the seconds and split seconds of time you can get!
- The godwars dungeon:
- Teleport to godwars by selecting it from the boss teleports.
- Consists of four boss rooms: Armadyl, Bandos, Saradomin and Zamorak.
- Bandos room is located in the north-western direction.
- When you're in the north-western corner of the dungeon look for the soldier and talk to him.
- Now you're inside the bandos lair. Don't worry, this part only has bandos monsters which you can kill for killcount. The Bandos boss is not here, you are safe :p
- Getting killcount:
- You need 5 killcount to enter the Bandos boss room.
- Pot up with your super set and activate deflect melee + turmoil.
- I use this 'routine' if you will for building up my killcount:
- Ork - Ork - Barbarian - Ork - Barbarian
- Orks are aggressive which means they will come to attack you. They're easy to kill and since they'll be bothering you anyway you might as well deal with them instead of having to face two monsters at the same time.
- When an ork and barbarian are next to each other, attack and kill the ork first so you're not dealing with 2 monsters at the same time.
- Barbarians are of low level and have very low hitpoints, best for killcount building :p
- Typically once you've got your kill count up to 5, you'll be at around 50/99 prayer points. Go ahead and take a dose of your super restore potion.
- Head over to the Bandos boss door in the north-eastern area of the Bandos lair.
- Ok a couple of notes before we teleport to godwars dungeon:
- Spoiler:
- Consuming pots + food
- Always eat when below 60hp. Reason being you can be 1 shotted/combo'd below this critical value.
- Keep an eye on your prayer. Whilst the Bandos boss does not drain prayer, if it ever drops to 0 and your deflect melee prayer is deactivated, General Graardor can hit you for up to 61 hp and with the help of his minions you wouldn't stand a chance. Pot up with your super-restore whenever appropriate.
- Pot up using your super set any time your stats drop to 115/99. This will ensure your hits are as high as they can be for most of the time.
- For overloads I don't think it'd be necessary to re-pot whilst inside the boss room because your stats will stay boosted above 115/99 for the entire duration of your trip. It would also be risky since overloads deal damage.
- Entering the boss room
- Switch to your special attack weapon if you can and activate the special attack.
- Pot up with your super set/overload. Eat food if necessary.
- Activate deflect melee + turmoil + protect item.
- Enter the room.
- Consuming pots + food
- Spoiler:
- The fight:
- Attack General Graardor (Bandos boss) immediately and use your spec wep as soon as possible.
- Whip him down untill he's dead.
- Switch to deflect magic prayer and attack Sergeant Steelwill.
- When Steelwill's hp is really low (i.e. his hp bar is red) peel off of him and attack Sergeant Grimspike.
- When Grimspike's hp is really low (i.e. his hp bar is red) attack Sergeant Strongstack.
- If you suspect General Graardor is about to respawn, switch back to deflect melee prayer and finish off Grimspike and then Steelwill.
- Now attack General Graardor and use special attack whenever you can.
- Once the boss is dead get Steelwill and Grimspike low again.
- If you've done that and still have some time and food, attempt to kill Strongstack.
- If General Graardor respawns and you still have food, attack him as much as you can.
- Once out of food teleport out.
- The technique explained:
- Usually on your first trip you will manage to get 2 Bandos Boss kills (and a few minion kills).
- Getting the mage attacking minion (Steelwill) and the range attacking minion (Grimspike) low after killing Graardor first time is so that you can have a cleaner fight second time round with no mage or range minions hitting you.
- Since you'll be praying protect from melee, you need not worry about the melee minion (Strongstack).
- After your second boss kill you'll want to get Steelwill and Grimspike low again before teleporting out. This will set you up for your next trip.
- The fight:
- Spoiler:
- Preparing for trip #2:
- Restock and get your hp + prayer points back up to full.
- Pot up and build up your killcount to 5 as before.
- This time stick to your whip and pot up + activate your prayers as before. Enter the room.
- The fight:
- Kill Grimspike and Steelwill immediately. They should already be low from your previous trip.
- Now attack General Graardor and use your spec wep whenever you can.
- Once he's dead, get Steelwill and Grimspike low like last time.
- Wait for Graardor to respawn (you can attack Strongstack during this time).
- Again, when you think he's about to respawn finish off Grimspike and Steelwill.
- Repeat this process until you're down to less than 8 food at which point you need to prepare to leave.
- Get Grimspike and Steelwill low and this time do not kill them when Graardor spawns.
- Attack Graardor as much as you can whilst you still have food and teleport out when you're out of food.
- Why this is effective:
- Having to face only Graardor and Strongstack is a lot easier. The only damage being dealt to you will be Graardor's ranged attack, and the risk of you dieing by getting combo'd is reduced significantly.
- Because of this, you'll be eating less often during the fights. This means your damage output will increase as you'll spend more time attacking than you would do eating.
- To minimise the damage dealt to you, I'd recommend killing Grimspike first and then Steelwill before the boss respawns. Steelwill's magic attacks deal a lot more damage than Grimspike's ranged attacks. Killing Steelwill last means you'll minimise the time he has to attack you whilst you're praying melee (fighting Graardor).
- Teleporting out with Grimspike and Steelwill low sets you up for your next trip, as it did in your first trip. Their hp will not regenerate so don't worry about building your killcount as fast as you can.
- It takes a bit of practice to get use to this technique. You will pick up how to time Graardor's respawn accurately with experience. When executed correctly, this technique can get you 3-5 Bandos kills per trip (depending on your luck to tank and hit hard).

Re: Guide: Bandos SOLO (Melee)
VERY nice guide. Will be using this a lot. But, where would you get better food than sharks at, apart from doing fishing?
